Bodywork

Michael has practiced bodywork in the Pioneer Valley for nearly three decades. He graduated from the Stillpoint Center School of Massage in 1997 and shortly thereafter joined The Backstop Seated Massage at Thornes Marketplace in Northampton. In 2003, he purchased the business and has stewarded it with care ever since, building a welcoming place where people can take a little time for themselves and enjoy the restorative benefits of seated massage, right in the heart of Northampton, MA.

In addition to The Backstop, Michael maintains a private bodywork practice on Center Street in Northampton. Drawing from a variety of modalities, including Reiki, Trigger Point work, and Myofascial Release, he takes the time to listen and understand what each client needs, tailoring his approach, pressure, and techniques accordingly.

Michael's work is centered on helping clients ease tension and discomfort, settle into a greater sense of relaxation, and feel more at ease in their bodies. His professional yet personable approach creates a comfortable environment where each session can be individualized to the person. Whether you're looking to release built-up stress, muscle knots, and tension, or simply want to book a retreat where you can truly slow down and reset, Michael's goal remains the same—to have you leave feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and restored.

Michael currently sees private bodywork clients Monday through Thursday and select weekends.
